Man stabbed in face on London Underground train

A man has been stabbed in the face on a London Underground train.

He was attacked on the Central Line between Stratford and Mile End in east London at about 00:45 BST.

Rukshana Begum, 24, said she saw "blood pouring from his face" after hearing an argument. The victim was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

British Transport Police (BTP) have appealed for information and released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in relation to the investigation.

'Scary'

Ms Begum, of Hackney in east London, who was on her way home after a night out in Stratford with her friend, said the attack "caused a lot of panic on the train" and happened "really fast".

She recalled hearing two men argue and shout at each on the other side of the carriage before seeing a man running out of the train at Mile End station.

"That's when we saw the blood," she said. "It was everywhere - all over his hand, a newspaper on the floor was drenched in it.

"It was so scary. I've never seen something so horrible in my life."

The victim was initially taken to hospital with "non-life threatening or life-changing injuries to the face", BTP confirmed.
