A post on the Northern line Twitter account at 8.10am read: "We currently have severe delays between Kennington and Camden Town via both branches and minor delays on the rest of the line. Please use alternative routes where possible."
The account later said the CharingCross branch was back up and running with minor delays.
It later said disruption had cleared onthe Bank branch at 8.35am, though minor delays remained on the rest of the line due to busy platforms.
In May, Northern line commuter Greg Flucker told the Standard how he suffered an anxiety attack after another instance of severe delays on the packed route .
He said: "For as long as I've been making the commute I've felt the number of people using the service far exceeds the capacity the line was designed to handle - which is understandable due to its age."
