X Factor winner knocked out at home by a loft ladder

Former X Factor winner Sam Bailey was taken to hospital after being knocked out by a loft ladder at her home.

The 40-year-old had been trying to retrieve a suitcase from her attic on Tuesday when she tripped and fell.

She was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary and was forced to pull out of her appearance in the pantomime Beauty And The Beast at the city's De Montfort Hall - writes itv.com.

The east London-born singer vowed never to go into the loft again when she broke the news on Instagram.

Writing on Twitter, she said:

Thank you to all the staff and ambulance crew at Leicester royal infirmary x after a scary night I have to say I'm so proud of our NHS staff for all they do!!!

I'm sat here a little dazed but thankful for all your efforts tonight! I won't be going in the loft anytime soon! Got a pounding head ache! I'm on the mend! Resting up and determined to get back on that stage!
