Islington residents are invited to nominate unsung heroes that have worked hard to improve the lives of others for a Mayor’s Civic Award.
The Mayor’s Civic Award Scheme acknowledges those that have made a positive and selfless contribution to the local community. This could be through volunteering, campaigning, fundraising or representing their community, amongst other things - writes islington.media.
Nominations can be made online by visiting https://www.islington.gov.uk/about-the-council/who-we-are/how-the-council-works/the-mayor/mayors-civic-award . The closing date for nominations is Friday, 19 January 2018.
The mayor will present those honoured with a framed certificate at the council’s Civic Awards Ceremony on Thursday, 15 March 2018.
Nominations are also open for the Ben Kinsella award, which celebrates a local young person who has made a real difference to the community. The council is looking for Islington residents under 18 that have contributed to the borough in any number of ways – through voluntary activities, sport, music, drama, campaigning – amongst many others.

Mayor of Islington Una O’Halloran said: “I am very pleased to announce that the nominations for next year’s Civic Awards are now open.
“I look forward to hearing about the outstanding contributions that Islington residents are making to their local communities on a day to day basis. I encourage anyone to make a nomination if you have a friend or relative that deserves recognition for their hard work.”
All nominations are treated with the strictest confidence. If you nominate someone, please don’t tell them they have been nominated at this stage.
