New Director of Public Health for Sutton appointed

Sutton Council has appointed a new Director of Public Health.

Dr Imran Choudhury comes to Sutton from the London borough of Hounslow where he was responsible for Public Health and Leisure with additional responsibility for libraries, parks and open spaces. Prior to that he was the Acting Director of Public Health for Brent Primary Care Trust and then Brent Council - writes newsroomsutton.co.uk.

As Director of Public Health, Dr Choudhury will be Sutton’s main adviser on all health matters to elected members and officers, with responsibility for areas such as health improvement, health protection and quality of health services.

Dr Choudhury completed his medical training at the University of London in 1995 and spent the first seven years of his career working as a hospital doctor in a number of posts including A&E.

He will start his new role on Tuesday 9 January 2018.
