Bexleyheath improvement update - Albion Road

From 23 September vehicles will be able to access and exit Albion Road car park at all times, as normal, as surfacing works between Highland Road and Gravel Hill will be complete.

Albion Road remains closed to traffic in both directions between Highland Road and Gravel Hill, with a signposted diversion in place via Highland Road and Broadway - writes bexley.gov.uk.

A temporary single lane of traffic is now in operation on the eastbound section (the side of Albion Road nearest the shopping centre) between Townley roundabout (by the library) and Highland Road (by the Magistrates’ Court). The Broadway Shopping Centre can still be accessed and exited by vehicles at all times and businesses are open as usual.

Work on the new zebra crossings, footpaths and cycle lanes between Oaklands roundabout (by the bowling alley) and Townley Road continues to progress, with the new single lane carriageway now open to traffic in each direction. Drivers are reminded that the speed limit along this stretch of Albion Road is 30mph.

London Borough of Bexley apologises in advance for any inconvenience that may result during these improvements. We are working with local residents and businesses to minimise disruption. Drivers should take extra care during these temporary arrangements.

The works are part of the final phase of the Bexleyheath Town Centre Revitalisation (BTCR) improvements, which started on Albion Road in January. They will help to ensure that Bexleyheath remains a vibrant town centre that continues to grow and are being managed by the Council and funded by Transport for London.
