'Absolutely sickening': Horse owners condemn attack in Northolt stables after pony is repeatedly stabbed overnight

The owners of a pony which was repeatedly stabbed in Northolt on Tuesday night (August 29) have condemned the crime as “absolutely sickening”.

Angel Reed, 16, from Northolt, realised that her pony had been “attacked in the night” after finding cuts all over her body on Wednesday morning (August 30).

The 25-year-old, named Kizzy, suffered a number of cuts, had a swollen back and leg and “couldn't stand” when she was found.

Angel's mother Lisa, 44, said that she thought that the horse would not make it after suffering such severe injuries.

“When my husband told me she had some cuts, I thought she had just got caught on something, I didn't really take notice," she said.

“But when my daughter sent me some pictures, I just burst into tears - I couldn't believe it - writes getwestlondon.

“When I arrived, the pony was lying down and I thought she was going to go, I thought she was a goner, she was shaking all over."

“I would love to see the people responsible for this caught,” she added. “It's horrible and disgusting what they have done, it's absolutely sickening.”

According to the owners, this is not the first time the stables, based off Shavel Lane, has been targeted by vandals.

Previously, thieves have reportedly cut up and stole fly masks, rugs and head collars from the stables.

Angel Reed spoke about the incident and said she is now nervous to put horses out again because she fears people will come back to “do worse or target other horses”.

She said: “We found her laying down away from the herd, we couldn't get her up and when I went to check her body I saw she was absolutely covered in stab wounds.

“They are definitely human-made wounds, the police have put it down to cruelty to animals.

“You don't expect anyone to do that to an innocent animal, she wasn't doing anything wrong.”

Met Police has been contacted for comment.
