A woman has become the sixth person to be arrested by police in Britain in connection with the Manchester terror attack.
Greater Manchester Police said the arrest follows an armed raid on a block of flats in Blackley, in the north of the city.
Residents said they heard a ‘huge bang’ when officers carrying firearms forced their way into a flat, believed to be on the 12th floor.
Chris Barlow said: ‘There was about 30 people on the street – they said there’s been an explosion at the flats, a bomb or explosion.
‘There’s CTU (counter terrorism unit) special forces – I spoke to one officer and they said they blew the door in and took a couple of people away.’
Previously, three people were arrested after warrants were executed in south Manchester, another man was arrested in Wigan, and Ismail Abedi, the bomber’s brother, was arrested in Manchester.
In addition, his father Ramadan Abedi and other brother Hashem Abedi were arrested in Libya.
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘A search was carried out and a woman has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the Manchester Arena incident.’
