3 rail networks will be strike which is organized in the RMT union by train staff. Reasons of it are unknown future of guards and conductors. On 30 May crew will go on strike on Northern, Southern and Mersey rail services.
In 2015 RMT members have walked out for 1 month during industrial action. Govia Thameslink Railway (Southrn's operation company) decided to change role of drivers. In future they will be responsible for different train operations. For example, closing the door. There will be no conductors in future. Such steps didn’t please many people.
8,216 trains a year will run without a second crew member said in the RMT. What will be with safety and people with disabilities? It makes some problems for them.
Main person in the RMT Mick Cash said about starting of strike action because it represents risk for passengers. “We have no option” – were his words. Richard Allan from Northern was frustrated according his words. He thinks that no strike can resolve that problems on the railway.
As for the Merseyrail, it made also some new rules. In 2020 trains will run without guards. On the mind of Cash this fact shows ignoring wishes of passengers, but RMP will be available for talking with the companies.
During the last strike Southern usedused nearly 90% of trains. What will be with the new strike?
