The British government has promised to preserve the rights of fishermen after the end of the divorce process with the European Union. The Cabinet of Ministers has not made yet any decisions to regulate the fishermen`s activity, but they emphasized that the most unpopular measures will be removed from the legal framework. The law will regulate the activities of Scottish fishermen, since after Brexit they may lose the right to fish in the territorial waters of European countries that are members of the EU.
London expressed willingness to impose certain restrictions on foreign fishermen, so that local people could use the full range of benefits. The government noted that London will establish full control over its territorial waters after thecompletion of the procedure for the country's withdrawal from the EU.
However, in Scotland itself, people are skeptical of London's initiative, since if the majority of residents vote for secession from the UK in the course of a referendum, then Edinburgh can almost immediately declare a desire to join the EU. In this case, again, legal problems with the status of Scottish fishermen will appear back, as they fish in the waters of Britain.
