Barnet candidates for the June "snap" election - Labour informed

Labour has announced their candidates for the three constituencies in the borough of Barnet.

Labour announced Jeremy Newmark as the candidate for Finchley and Golders Green, Mike Katz for Hendon and Emma Whysall for Chipping Barnet

Mr Newmark is the national chair of the Jewish Labour Movement, but has also campaigned in the area for a number of years.

He said: “I will fight against a reckless extreme Tory Brexit and I will work tirelessly to let local people know that this election is a choice between a Labour Party that will stand up for local people or a Conservative Party that only looks after the privileged few.

Mr Newmark also went on to criticise cuts to hospitals, schools and police in his announcement, which he says have been overseen by the Conservative party.

Mr Katz, who was a councillor in Kilburn from 2010 to 2014, has worked in transport in trade unions and private firms.

He said: “We've had seven years of a Conservative Government and MP here in Hendon failing local families. It's time voters in Hendon had a Labour MP again, and a Government that will put the interests of the many first.”

In Chipping Barnet, Ms Whysall will stand for the party though little is known about her present.

Ms Whysall has been a member of the Hornsey and Wood Green Labour group and she stood for the Muswell Hill ward in the local elections in 2014.
