This is a charmingly old-fashioned family flick based on the beloved 1930 children's classic by Arthur Ransome. Set in the sweeping and majestic landscape of the Lake District on the shimmering waters of Coniston, Swallows and Amazons has a homely, familiar, and very British feel. This film is cosy comfort food, as sweet as a cream tea, evoking that rainy Sunday 'Railway Children' feeling of a more innocent age when children had rip-roaring adventures in sailing boats and camped on remote islands.
